Good Workout Music Brings Out The Best (+ Top 10 Songs!)

February 2nd, 2008

I am a full believer in the theory that music absolutely helps with training intensity. Music evokes emotion. Emotion is the difference between a mediocre workout and a remarkable one. I personally sway towards powerful lyrics and powerful scores. That probably explains why rock and metal seem to always have a place on my iPod shuffle.

The only problem is that like any music, over-playing tracks inevitably lowers the appeal of the song. Eventually all tracks get played out.

With that being said, I’ve compiled a list of my top 10 training songs… for the moment.

1. Crystal Method & Filter - Trip Like I Do (Remix)
2. Alkaline Trio - Burn (Underworld Soundtrack Mix)
3. Metallica - Blitzkrieg
4. “Gattaca” Movie Theme (Soundtrack)
5. Apocalyptica - Nothing Else Matters (Instrumental Cover)
6. A Perfect Circle - Passive
7. A Perfect Circle - Halo
8. Jay-Z - The Ruler’s Back
9. Eminem, Obie Trice, and DMX - Go To Sleep
10. Gary Jules - Mad World

Whenever I have a new rotation of songs, I’ll make sure to share them. If you have any recommendations, I’m always open to suggestions!

I agree completely music is the key for me… I catch myself to some songs just dragging on the incline bike at 80-85 RPM… then a good tune comes on and im pumping out 105rpm out of nowhere.

My list goes as follows Keep in mind I like all musical styles im 20/m. And of all my 800 tunes I condensed the work out tunes to these few.

Elvis vs JXL- Little Less Conversation
Bee Gees- Stayin Alive (dont ask…)
Wild Cherry- Play that funky music white boy
    AC/DC- Let There Be Rock
CCR- Spirit in the sky (again dont ask)
Three Days Grace- Animal I Have Become
Rednecks- Cotton Eyed Joe (I personally like it and its energetic as all hell)
    Spider Bait- Black Betty
    The Vines- Ride
Ray Charles- Hit The Road Jack

    ——————–

    These sometimes work.

    DJ Champion - No Heaven
Fat Boy Slim- Push The Tempo
    Chemical Romance- Mama
    Jon Lajoie- Everyday Normal Guy
Mickey Avalon- My Dick (1 part ego boost 1 part funny watching people go by while listening to it)
    ——————-

Hope it helps… And keep in mind this is a cardio kind of list…If your boxing or training for football and need something more aggressive its useless haha… “DMX” and such will probably do more for you… “Voices”, “down with the sickness”, “dropping plates” by Disturbed, Fight Music - Eminem things along this line will help… Honestly… Eye of the Tiger by Survivor does absolutely 0 for me working out… Im better off listening to Barracuda’s opening.
